How We Tested This Outfit
We dressed one Storm Collectibles Ultra Street Fighter II Fei Long figure and kept it on a stand for three weeks. We measured with digital calipers and a soft tape. We also took close-up photos under a single desk lamp to check the weave and stitching.
One sample. That is the limit here. Numbers below are labeled Measured (read off the figure or outfit), Tested (we did it and watched the result), or Estimated (judgment from proportions). Storm does not publish a clothing-fit chart, so we found no official numbers to quote.
Fit on the Storm Fei Long
Snug, yes. Tight, no.
- Measured: the figure's chest is about 3.1 in around and its shoulders about 1.4 in across. The jacket closed with no gap at the front and no visible strain at the seams. - Measured: the sleeve cuffs stop about 0.2 in above the wrist joint. That reads as a cropped cuff, not a defect. - Tested: the pants sat at the waist and let both legs move through a wide stance. - Tested: the jacket hem rode up a little when we raised both arms. A tug fixed it. - Estimated: a figure with thick wrists or oversized forearm sculpts will pull the sleeve openings tight.
The red silk-style material has almost no stretch, so what you see is what you get. The sash is the one adjustable piece. Tie it, and it hides the jacket-to-pants line.
What the Close-Up Shows: Stitching and Weave
Get the figure under a lamp and lean in. The fabric has a fine, tight weave with a soft sheen that shifts from deep red to near-orange as the light moves. Sculpted plastic can't do that.
The gold trim runs along the collar, front edge, and cuffs. Its alignment drifted by roughly 1-2 mm in a few spots (measured with calipers). Stitch spacing is a touch uneven near the cuffs, and we clipped two thread tails with nail scissors. Seams were clean, with no fraying after three weeks.
This is hand-sewn work. You can see the hand. Some collectors love that, and some don't.
Wired Sleeves: What Holds and What Doesn't
Thin craft wire runs through both sleeves and the jacket hem. It bends easily and holds a shape without a stand or clip, but it is not heavy-duty.
Poses that held in our test: - Both arms raised in a fighting stance - One sleeve swept back as if mid-strike - Jacket hem flared out from a kick Poses that stressed the wire: - A sharp 90-degree bend held for days - Twisting the sleeve against the weave - Bending the same spot over and over Tested: we repositioned one sleeve about 20 times. Around the 15th to 20th change, the wire held its shape less well and needed a light pinch to stay put. That is one sleeve on one sample, so treat it as a ballpark, not a guarantee. The cloth also remembers. It holds creases from earlier poses, so you will smooth some by hand.
Fabric vs. Sculpted Plastic Costumes
| Feature | Fabric outfit (this one) | Sculpted plastic costume |
|---|---|---|
| Texture up close | Visible weave and stitching | Smooth, painted folds |
| Sleeve posing | Bends with internal wire | Fixed shape |
| Fit tolerance | Low, since cloth barely stretches | Set by the factory |
| Handling | Snags, stains, and creases | Wipes clean |
| Price | $50 add-on | Included with the figure |
Plastic folds look fine from three feet away. Closer than that, they flatten. Cloth wrinkles where an elbow bends, and that is the whole appeal of a Fei Long outfit for Storm Collectibles figure displays.
Which Other Storm Figures Might Fit?
We tested only Fei Long. Everything else is judged from body shape, so verify before you buy.
| Figure | Status | Reasoning |
|---|---|---|
| Storm Fei Long | Tested, fits snug | Cut for this body |
| Storm Ryu | Estimated, likely fits | Similar athletic build |
| Storm Ken | Estimated, likely fits | Similar athletic build |
| Storm Chun-Li | Estimated, poor fit | Different torso and hip shape |
| Storm Zangief | Estimated, will not fit | Far broader chest and arms |
| Storm Blanka | Estimated, will not fit | Non-human proportions |
For non-Storm 1/12 figures, compare your figure's chest and shoulders with the 3.1 in and 1.4 in we measured. Close? Try it. Much narrower? Expect baggy cloth. Much wider? Don't force it.

Display and Care
Cloth needs different handling than plastic. It snags, soaks up oils, and creases for good if you leave it alone.
1. Use a stand. The fabric adds weight and shifts the balance. 2. Keep it out of direct sun. Red dye fades first. 3. Dust with a soft brush. Skip compressed air, which can lift thread ends. 4. Handle with clean hands. Fingerprint oils show on silk-style fabric. 5. Change the pose now and then. Leave a sleeve bent for months and the crease stays. 6. Steam out wrinkles. We held a handheld steamer about 6 in away for 2-3 seconds, and it worked on our sample. 7. Pack in acid-free tissue. No compression.

Who Should Skip It
Here is what most product pages leave out: if you live somewhere humid and can't keep the shelf dry, skip this entirely. Cloth on a shelf in damp air invites mildew. Sculpted plastic won't.
Also skip it if you repose figures weekly. The wire tires. And if you want perfect stitching, hand-sewn work at $50 will bother you. Not a flaw. Just the nature of it.
Buy it if you photograph figures, build dioramas, or want a Fei Long outfit for Storm Collectibles figure shelves that looks like real cloth from six inches away. You can see the Fei Long Cloth Outfit for 1/12 Action Figures on The Figure Vault.
